New DJ/Producer joins Gay Radio Station

We're thrilled to announce this fantastic DJ / Remixer / Producer to your favourite gay radio station.

Joe Bermudez is your guide on this head-trip, and he knows just where to take you. The 28 year-old international DJ has emerged as one of the hottest talents on the global club scene, a sonic triple threat that brings the goods: the sound, the look, and the (lack of) attitude.

Whether he’s spinning live at clubs and circuit events, remixing for the biggest names in music (Britney, Justin, Janet and just about anyone else you know by first name alone), or just sitting back and looking damn pretty, Bermudez has amassed a worldwide following for his seamless sets, pitch perfect productions, and willingness to play to the crowd: not his ego.

"By starting in radio, I learned how to program music for the masses," explains Bermudez. At just 18 years old, on his own and without a paycheck, Bermudez was ballsy enough to walk into a local radio station and demand they hire him.

Lucky for the rest of us, they listened.

And while he hasn’t left radio behind, today Joe is the one being pursued; he’s got a weekly, national show on XM satellite radio, for starters.

But most importantly, his introduction to the music world set his expectations high and his ear planted firmly to the floor.

"By having a bigger audience from the start, I quickly learned how to keep a lot of people happy with what I play,” says Bermudez. “Even in my underground mixes, there's an element of pop that attracts people who normally wouldn't listen to the genre."

A refreshing lack of pretense, and his willingness to cross genre boundaries, has been hugely influential in Bermudez’ meteoric rise throughout the ranks of international DJs. Most recently, he released Mass Movement, his first artist compilation album for Nervous Records. The album spotlighted his boundary-defying skills and diversity in tribal, house, and pop, and synthesized his ear for complex club jams with radio-friendly dance. The result?: A smash album that earned Bermudez a 2007 International Dance Music Award (IDMA).

Indeed, 2007 was a major year for Joe: He was named one of the Top 20 DJs in the country by DJ Times (besting even legendary names like Junior Vasquez, Roger Sanchez and Felix da Housecat), DIVO of the Year (#2) by DIVA|DIVO, and nominated for a second IDMA for Best Radio Mix Show DJ. He’s continued to churn out remixed and productions for major industry names, adding name upon name to his list of heavy-hitting clients.

And then, of course, there are those baby brown eyes.

Besides his killer club music, Bermudez' look and personality are also a big part of the attraction. Like the music he spins, the DJ is warm and approachable, high energy and always ready for a good time. Of course, it doesn't hurt that flocks of female fans (and hey, more than a few guys) swoon over Bermudez' physical attributes. Even a simple Google search turns up more than a few remarks of the "what a hottie!" "soooo cute" and "OMG I LIKE TOTALLY LUV HIM LOL" variety.

Still, whether it’s his victories in the DJ booth or success with the ladies, Bermudez takes it all in stride.

“It’s all about the music for me,” says Bermudez. “I love being able to see the world by spinning at clubs all over the globe. But all I need is a crowd that loves what I’m doing. To keep them moving all night long, that’s the greatest perk of all.”

Perk up, baby. The audience is listening.

Attention all passengers: Prepare for a wild landing.

You’re about to enter the Bermudez triangle.

This is where the melody hits your chest like a crashing wave, where the pulsing bass rocks your head like a hurricane, and where – get ready!- you’ll be lost forever in the sea of the dance floor.

Dance Gaytion Radio live at Leeds Pride

We will be broadcasting LIVE from Leeds Pride on Sunday, August 1st this year with lots of great local DJ's. In the afternoon, we will be LIVE from the outdoor stage and in the evening we will be LIVE from the BRIDGE bar with resident DJ DANNY CHER BAILEY with something a bit different so be sure to TUNE IN. Also, keep checking on our facebook page as we will bring you photo's as the day progress's and on the evening, use the 'Shoutbox' on the website and we'll try and read some messages out, live on air!!

The Leeds Pride, on Sunday, August 1 2010, will be the fifth year of the Leeds Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans Pride.

The event falls on Yorkshire Day, so the theme is... Yorkshire.

The colourful Pride Day starts off in Millennium Square with live music and festivities, followed by a parade through the centre of the city.

It ends with a party in some of Leeds bars and nightclubs.

Visitors can also peruse the art market, take part in the tea-dance and experience the thrill of the funfair rides.

Tom Doyle, Chair of Leeds LGBT Pride says, 'Pride is usually a celebration of our community's achievements and diversity and this year it is a celebration of where we live too."

As one of the city's most flamboyant and entertaining days of the year this is one day for the diary.

Confirmed acts for this year's Pride will be announced in July.

Reflecting the city

The first Sunday in August has for the last four years has been the date for a day of celebration and entertainment in Leeds.

The first Pride event in 2006, started out a bit smaller than the plans for 2010, but an estimated 4000 participants still brought traffic and pedestrians to a halt along the parade route.

To reflect the city of Leeds and its emblem, Owlie was officially adopted as the mascot for Leeds Pride.

Last year's Leeds LGBT Pride saw record numbers of revellers, estimated at around 17,000, the crowds were entertained in Millennium Square by top local and national acts.

The unfurling of a very large rainbow flag marked the beginning of the centrepiece of the day - a parade thorough the city centre.

Colourful drag queens

Floats with themes such as Movies through the Ages and Stiletto Ghetto were joined by colourful drag queens and thousands of revellers and supporters.

The Leeds Pride also organises a smaller Winter Pride Event and Leeds Pride Awards, known as the Owlies.

Leeds Pride is a partnership including input from Leeds City Council, Leeds City Centre Management, West Yorkshire Police and business owners around the Lower Briggate area. It also relies on hundreds of volunteers.

Yorkshire MESMAC, A sexual health information and resources project for gay men in the north of England, coordinates the event.

Our David Timothy does Calderdale Pride!!

Calderdale’s Gay Pride continues to grow and bloom and the countdown has started to Saturday June 19th when Halifax will again be hosting the queerest event ever in the Calderdale calendar and our own DJ David Timothy will be there to rock the place!!

The packed Pride day kicks off at 2pm with all the action at the centre of Halifax in the magnificent Piece Hall grounds. The Piece Hall is a stunning setting for Pride which is just 5 minutes walk from both train and bus stations.

Bring food, drink and a picnic blanket along to the Piece Hall to enjoy a Pride picnic on the lawns and enjoy a full and varied programme of events and music from the stage hosted by the fabulous Drag Queen Lucy Lastic with an anticipated special guest appearance by Bears Aloud, Almost Pink & Haus of Gaga.

At the Piece Hall the day will include live music, quality DJ’s, stand-up comedy, a local and a Pride market, art gallery, niche shopping, licensed bar, food and a few other surprises too.

But the party doesn’t stop there as the Pride team are working with the Police and at least one town centre venue to provide a safe, and welcoming Pride after party which will be promoted on the day.

The event is completely free, family friendly and inclusive.

We are looking forward to providing a safe, fun, and secure event for everyone which promises to be an amazing chance for LGBT people, their families, friends and supporters to get together, be more visible in Calderdale and celebrate.” said Ralph Baqar Chair of the organising committee.

The Chair of Calderdale LGBT Network Craig Smith said, “Calderdale Pride has just snow balled and the response of the LGBT community, family and friends has been wonderful. We’ve had messages of support from people who are travelling from Leeds, Manchester and beyond to support Calderdale Pride in Halifax.”

“Everyone is extremely excited and we would welcome people showing their support by getting more involved by contacting us by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
